Daily Prompt: Who was your most influential teacher? Why?

School days are long behind me. Unfortunately, none of my teachers, not even in college, were particularly inspiring. I wish there had been at least one, someone who would have recognized my strengths and abilities and encouraged them. It may have had made a difference in my life. Wow..the life I could have, I could only imagine. But, let’s not dwell…

Instead, living life and my own mind are the greatest influences on me. You live long enough, you experience all sorts of scenarios and you learn from them, sometimes good, and sometimes bad. With each experience, you discover who you are, your strengths and weaknesses. These events, if I had chosen to be “awake” (I have a tenancy to disassociate during stressful periods) and it will be something I will analyze in my thoughts for years, even decades. I try to be self-aware, but no doubt I miss the human nonsense I do, usually from my anxiety. At least I have learned about myself with decades behind me. I have found my calling and feel more comfortable in my skin.
